layla updates

Layla is doing well after her hernia surgery, and her stitches have all been removed. She’s feeling so much better, with great mobility, lots of energy, and a whole new spark.

Now that she’s more comfortable, she’s finally getting the chance to learn how to just be a dog.

Layla is still recovering well from her ruptured hernia surgery and is doing great. She wants to thank everyone who donated items for her. She absolutely loves her Lambchops in all different sizes and her Nylabone!

Layla is recovering well in foster care and continues to make steady progress following her recent surgery. She is resting comfortably, now able to lie on her belly, and her incision sites are healing nicely. Her appetite is strong, and she is eating, drinking, and eliminating normally. All encouraging signs in her recovery.

She has noticeably more energy as she begins to feel better. Like many dogs adjusting to a new environment while confined for medical recovery, Layla is showing some anxious and high energy behaviors. She is currently on activity restriction, wearing a cone, and separated from other household dogs during her two-week recovery period, which may be contributing to some restlessness.

She has bonded well with her foster family, especially the children, and is continuing to decompress as she settles in. We will continue monitoring her behavior as she heals and transitions into a more normal routine. Layla’s recovery is moving in the right direction, and we look forward to sharing more updates as she progresses.

Layla came to Delco Dawgs last week in severe pain due to a large, ruptured hernia that had clearly been developing for quite some time. The mass had grown significantly, and she had likely been living with discomfort for longer than anyone realized.

She underwent surgery to repair the hernia and is now safely in foster care recovering. Layla has a large abdominal incision with dissolvable sutures, and while she is healing well, she is understandably protective if someone goes near her abdomen. Given the pain she endured prior to surgery, this guarded response is completely expected.

The good news is that she is making steady progress. Each day, she’s a little more comfortable, a little more relaxed, and continuing to heal both physically and emotionally. We’re so grateful she’s safe, recovering, and finally getting the care she needed.

Layla is being discharged from the hospital today and heading to her foster home. After major surgery and the recent surrender by her previous owner, she is understandably confused, sore, and adjusting to everything that has happened. She has shown some mild reactivity due to discomfort and stress, which is not uncommon following surgery and transition.

She will be settling into a wonderful foster home with two other spaniels, where she can rest, heal, and begin to feel safe again. We look forward to sharing updates as she recovers and regains her confidence.

She now has both internal and external sutures and will require careful recovery, but she is expected to begin feeling more comfortable in the coming days. Layla will transition to foster care as she continues healing. We are grateful to everyone who submitted applications. She will be heading to a wonderful foster-to-adopt home. Updates will be shared as she progresses.

Layla G came to Delco Dawgs from ACCT with a ruptured hernia and a large abdominal mass requiring immediate surgical intervention. She was in significant pain and needed urgent stabilization.

Upon intake, she was started on IV antibiotics, pain management, and fluids in preparation for surgery. The mass had been present for some time and had ruptured, making the procedure complex. Layla remained hospitalized overnight to receive antibiotics prior to surgery.
