Spoons came to us as a tiny 4 pound pup with an unknown history, but from the very beginning it was clear he had a bright spirit and a lot of love to give. Estimated to be about 3 years old, Spoons arrived while serving a short stray hold, giving an owner the opportunity to come forward. When no one did, our team stepped in to make sure this little guy would have the chance at the life he deserved.
Spoons quickly settled into his foster home and began learning all the things that come with being a loved family dog. He was already a professional at being adorable, but he also learned how to walk on a leash, enjoy bath time, and trust the people caring for him. During his time in foster, Spoons received his veterinary care including exams, vaccines, and his neuter surgery.
It didn’t take long for his foster family to fall completely in love. Once Spoons was medically cleared, his foster-to-adopt became official, and he found his forever home right where he was. We couldn’t be happier for this sweet little guy.
Happy life, Spoons! You deserve it.

When Maggie first came to Delco Dawgs, she was a tiny, frightened survivor of a hoarding situation. At only about 5 pounds and estimated to be around 10–11 years old, this little chihuahua mix had already endured more than any dog should in a lifetime. Maggie is blind, and when she arrived she was unsure of the world around her.
Even through her fear, Maggie’s gentle spirit was easy to see. Whenever she sensed someone nearby, her whole body would light up. Her tail would start wagging, and she would do the sweetest little dance, so excited to know someone was there. Despite everything she had been through, Maggie still believed in people.
After being rescued, Maggie received the medical care she needed, including being spayed, and began recovering in foster care. With patience, love, and a safe environment, she slowly came out of her shell. Her foster family saw the true Maggie emerge to be a trusting, affectionate cuddle-bug who simply wanted to be close to her people.
Even though she cannot see, Maggie learned to navigate her space comfortably and showed everyone just how resilient she is. She also proved to be wonderful with kids, cats, and other dogs.
What Maggie needed most was a special home. Someone willing to keep her tiny, blind self safe and give her the love she deserved for the rest of her life. Maggie’s story got the ending every rescue hopes for.
Maggie was adopted into a loving home where she will be cherished and protected. This little senior who once lived in darkness now has a bright future filled with safety, comfort, and love.
Happy tails, Maggie!
You deserve every moment of it

Lt. Dan came to Delco Dawgs in early 2023 in critical condition after being rescued from ACCT. He was suffering from severe sepsis caused by a bone infection after matting had tightened around his leg and strangled it all the way to the bone. The damage was so severe that his leg had become necrotic, leaving amputation as the only option to save his life. Despite everything he had endured, Lt. Dan showed incredible resilience during recovery and was soon adopted by an experienced and loving shepherd owner, where he began living the happy life he always deserved.
Over time, Lt. Dan began experiencing seizures which are now being managed with medication, but the side effects caused weakness in his hind legs, making it difficult for him to balance and move comfortably on three legs. His adopter reached out to Delco Dawgs for help, and once again the rescue community stepped up. Thanks to the incredible generosity of supporters, Lt. Dan received a custom-fitted wheelchair cart that will help him regain his mobility and independence!
Happy Tails, Lt. Dan!
Enjoy your wheels and keep rolling through life.

Grumps’ journey with Delco Dawgs began after unimaginable trauma. At just eight months old, he had already endured an untreated hind leg fracture before being struck by a vehicle, leaving him with injuries to three legs. His left front leg suffered a complete humeral fracture requiring surgical repair with plates and screws, while his right front leg sustained severe soft tissue damage. Emergency care, strict rest, sling-assisted mobility, and weeks of careful monitoring followed.
Through it all, Grumps remained affectionate and a resilient little fighter determined to keep going. As healing progressed, Grumps began strengthening his repaired left leg through dedicated therapy, including aqua therapy, and made remarkable strides in mobility. His foster, a VRC team member deeply involved in his rehabilitation, officially adopted him, ensuring he would continue receiving the specialized care he needs in the best possible environment. With ongoing physical therapy and close oversight, there is hope his right leg can continue to provide support without amputation. Grumps is now thriving exactly where he belongs. Safe, loved, and surrounded by the team who never gave up on him.
Happy tails, Grumps!
You deserve every ounce of love.

Remember Maddie?
Maddie came to Delco Dawgs after being hit by a car, suffering two broken front legs. She was in significant pain and facing a long road to recovery. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, she underwent orthopedic surgery where plates and screws were placed in both legs to repair the fractures. Her post-surgical incision and swelling were a reminder of just how serious her injuries were, but also of the second chance she was given.
After weeks of careful recovery, follow-up care, and lots of love, Maddie healed beautifully. Today, her legs are strong, stable, and fully functional. She has been adopted into a loving home where she is thriving. Watching her race across a snowy yard, carefree and full of joy, you would never guess the trauma she endured. Her scars tell a story of survival, resilience, and the power of community.
From broken and hurting… to healed and home. Maddie is exactly why we do what we do.
Happy tails, Maddie!
You deserve nothing but the best.
